Annual Driver of the Year 2023

Sapp Bros. Annual Driver of the Year Awarded and Driver Recognition Celebration

This is the 2nd year that Sapp Bros. Petroleum awarded a Driver of the Year and welcomed all of our qualified Work to Zero Hero’s to Omaha, Nebraska. Joining them in celebration of the incredible work our professional drivers do every day were their spouses, Corporate Leadership, Regional Managers and Location Managers.

Of Sapp Bros. Petroleum’s 247 drivers 26 of them qualified for Driver of the Year. To be a qualified driver, they had to go an entire year without any safety “events”, which meant they had all monthly training completed, no coachable driving events, no at fault accidents, no mixed product events, no reportable spills, no failed DOT inspections and no HOS inspections.

To say we are incredibly proud of the work these men and women do would be an understatement. Their job is not an easy one and the amount of professionalism, responsibility commitment to safety does not go unnoticed. As our Sapp Bros. CEO, Andy Richard, stated “Nearly every facet of our company depends on our professional drivers. We would not be able to operate without the work you all do”.

Congratulations to our 2023 Driver of the Year, Tanner Albus!

Tanner has been a driver for Sapp Bros. Petroleum for 8 years. He started in a tank wagon hauling gas and diesel and then moved to a Bobtail LP. In fall of 2019, he moved into a driving a semi hauling gas and diesel and has been there since. Tanner credits his successful driving career to thinking before acting and taking the time to do things right. When Tanner was asked what his favorite thing about Sapp Bros. Petroleum was he said he really enjoys the flexibility. If he needs time off to go to family functions, Sapp Bros. allows him to do so. He also likes the people he works with.

Tanner has four children that keep him very busy. In his free time, he collects guns and loves going hunting with his dog. His manager, Doug, says that Tanner has a great attitude, he’s upbeat and always willing to do more. He has pride in himself and the truck he drives, which makes him a poster candidate for Driver of the Year. This is his second time qualifying for driver of the year and his commitment to safety speaks volumes about his driving!
